MPNTX Lead Fundraiser: Marivic Brockway

For a fun loving person like me, I graciously accepted the invitation to be one of the Lead Fund Raisers of the 2009 Mrs. Philippines of North Texas Charity Festival. I love to be with people and I am very willing to learn from new experiences.

I am Marivic Brockway formerly Maria Victoria Palana of Dulag Leyte Philippines. I am the youngest of the three children of Julian and Uldarica Palana. My siblings are Nana (older sister) Yolanda and Mano (older brother) Danilo. I attended elementary and high school at St Joseph's School in Leyte. I took vocational courses to further my education. Dancing and swimming have been my areas of interests ever since I was young.

My pride and joy are my family. I got married to my husband, Tracy Brockway, in December 21, 1983. When we moved to Texas in 1985, our eldest son was two years old and our daughter was only two months old. Tracy, who then retired from the military, started a new job and I was a full time housewife. Motherhood filled up my days. The arrival of two more children after some years added more blessings and fulfillment to our family.

Michael, our eldest, is now 25 years old. He is with the Navy and is stationed in Japan. Michelle, our second child, is now a mother herself. She has a baby son, my first apo (grandchild). Our younger children, Tracy and Trixie, 11th and 6th graders respectively are both studying at Boles School. My children gave me encouraging words when I told them that I agreed to join the project of the Philippine Community Center Incorporated.

The first hand experiences of both former MPNTX Lead Fund Raisers, Evelyn Armstrong, my cousin, and Emma Ramos, are enough testimonies of successful achievements. Following their footsteps, I am taking the challenge of sharing my time and skills in soliciting the good spirit and donations of the community to support the charitable services of Philippine Community Center, Inc.

The Lord's intervention, my husband's inspiration and your generous action will surely help me throughout the campaign. Salamat!
