PCCI's Projects and Events

As a non-profit organization, PCCI had to come up with different ways to support itself in order to continue its services to the community. Fundraising events are the solution for that problem. With the help of various donors, sponsors and other organizations, the fundraisers that PCCI has developed over the years have been a great success. And the most important fundraising event for PCCI is the Mrs. Philippines of North Texas. Mutya ng Pilipinas of North Texas, Little Miss Philippines of North Texas, and the latest addition, the Ms. Teen Philippines Princess of Hearts are some of the other fundrasing events that PCCI have. These events, in return, provide the needed funds to PCCI's many other programs and projects. Programs/projects such as the Academic Achievement Awards, the Medical Outreach / Health Fair, the Computer Class and much more.

The following are considered as PCCI's Major Projects.

Mrs. Philippines of North Texas

A biennial charity festival pageant, a dinner dance with the presentation of candidates (also known as the lead fundraisers). Whoever gets the most funds gets the title of Mrs. Philippines of North Texas. These lead fundraisers have their own beneficiaries like the Scottish Rite Children's Hospital, the American Cancer Society, the American Red Cross, and other community charities in the DFW area and registered non-profit charities in the Philippines. The remaining funds go to PCCI building maintenance and other expenses and projects.

Medical Outreach / Health Fair

A yearly Health Awareness program in cooperation with the area hospitals in the DFW area and members of the North Texas Association of Philippine Physicians (NTAPP). This community service benefits the medically-uninsured and underprivileged members of the community. Activities include free mammograms, prostate cancer blood tests, cholesterol checks, diabetes blood sugar tests, blood pressure checks, and free consultations with our Filipino Doctors, RNs and other medical volunteers.

There is also a Medical Mission to the Philippines, a new venture of PCCI to distribute medicine and nutritional supplements to the needy members of the Filipino community in the homeland.

Academic Achievement Awards

It is an annual project of PCCI under its scholarship program.

It recognizes and honors high school graduate students of Filipino descent for their outstanding academic excellence and encourages them to pursue higher learning through education. It deters illiteracy, unemployment, crime and poverty. The answer to all problems in the world comes down to a single word, "Education".

We honor these students with a free dinner with their families, a start up financial support to the college of their choice (from $300 - $500 per chosen student), a plaque or trophy, corsage/buttoner and gift certificate.

Funds for the Academic Achievement Award come from part of the net proceeds in the Mrs. Philippines of North Texas Charity festival that is held biennially.
